The family announces the death of Charles “Bud” Shaver at the age of 77 years. Bud passed away peacefully at Temiskaming Hospital in New Liskeard on Monday, April 18, 2011 with his loving family by his side.
Bud was born at Bucke Township on August 8, 1933 to the late Oliver Shaver and the late Gretis Wilson. He had been a lifelong North Cobalt resident and had worked at Misericordia Hospital in Haileybury as a Stationary Engineer.
Bud served his community for many years in various capacities. He served thirty-four years with the Bucke Township and Town of Haileybury Councils, thirty-two years with the Bucke Township and Haileybury Fire Departments. He also served as Fire Chief for the Bucke Township Fire Department.
Bud was the current Chairman of the Haileybury Heritage Museum where he had volunteered his time for the past 27 years. He loved fishing, camping and hobby farming. Bud is remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and will be sadly missed.
Predeceased by his parents; his first wife Shirley in 1987, sister Betty Kennedy. Survived by his loving and devoted wife Irene. Sadly missed by his loving daughter Sharon [Len] Slaght of North Cobalt. Fondly remembered by grandchildren: Emily, Austin and Hannah. Also left to mourn is his step-mother Audrey Thompson; his step-children: Christine [Yvon] Denis of Val Caron, Michael [Sue] Brown of Callander, John [Joanne] Brown of North Cobalt, Steven [Willow] Brown of Shelburne; step-grandchildren: Tina, Mark, Jesse, Tyler, Amy, Christy, Jordan, Riley; step-great-grandchildren: Colin, Logan, Abby and Sophie; his sibings: Don [Isabelle] Shaver, Joan Ross and Sharlene [Zi-Guy] Gauvreau; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
